Set within the rolling hills of Mountsberg, Project Mountsberg is a full-scale residential landscape transformation that reflects careful planning, strong collaboration, and thoughtful execution. Designed by Megan Kennedy Landscape Design, this project involved a complete reimagining of both the front and backyard, with every element considered from arrival to final gathering space.
A Welcoming Front Entry
The transformation begins at the front of the property, where the landscape now offers a clear and inviting approach to the home. Existing gardens were fully refreshed with new plantings, providing structure and seasonal interest while maintaining a natural feel that suits the rural setting.
Permacon Melville 60 and Mega Melville Plus Steps guide visitors toward the entrance, creating clean lines and comfortable transitions throughout the space. The porch was finished with natural stone flagstone, adding warmth and texture while complementing the character of the home. Together, these elements establish a strong first impression without overpowering the property.
A Backyard Designed to Be Experienced
While the front yard sets the tone, the backyard is where the project truly unfolds. Continuing the Permacon stone palette, our team constructed spacious patios and walkways that encourages movement through the space.
One of the defining features of the backyard is a mature wisteria that was carefully preserved during construction. The existing trellis was maintained and reinforced, allowing the vine to remain a natural focal point while framing the pathway below. This thoughtful integration of existing elements helped retain the property’s character while enhancing usability.
The Heart of the Space
At the end of the walkway, the landscape opens to a striking Douglas fir timber structure that frames the centerpiece of the backyard. Beneath it stands a custom-built, wood-burning fireplace reaching nearly sixteen feet in height.
Constructed with Permacon Lafitt stone and finished with an Indiana limestone hearth and mantle, the fireplace anchors the space both visually and functionally. A TV will be positioned below, creating a natural gathering point for family and guests. This feature represents one of the most substantial and rewarding builds our Residential Team has completed to date.
A Cohesive Result
From start to finish, Project Mountsberg came together through close coordination between design and construction. The result is a landscape that balances structure with comfort and craftsmanship with long-term enjoyment.
Every element, from the refreshed gardens to the fireplace and patios, works together to create a space that feels intentional and well considered. It is a property designed to be lived in, shared, and enjoyed for years to come, and one we are proud to showcase as part of our residential project portfolio.
